ALTECH has successfully implemented a new access control and video surveillance system at the quarry located in Cap Salou for the Tarragona Port Authority (APT). This system will allow for the control of vehicle and passenger entry and exit without the need for physical security personnel.
The new access consists of two lanes for vehicle entry and exit and a pedestrian access, all equipped with the necessary technology to identify and monitor anyone entering or leaving the facility. The site has also been equipped with various video surveillance cameras to enhance security in the area.

User identification and access authorization will be carried out using RFID and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology.
The set of applications and equipment that comprise the new access control system are based on the HERMES technology platform, developed by Altech, with a modular and scalable design that allows for the management and control of access to controlled areas and critical infrastructure.
The flexibility of this solution has made it possible to integrate the new system with the current Access Control Technology Platform (PTCT) and the Tarragona Port Authority’s video surveillance system.
The robustness and reliability of Altech’s solutions have been key factors for the system’s smooth operation. The location of the new access next to La Pineda beach, with significant exposure to the sea, required technology capable of withstanding the saline environment and inclement weather.
Furthermore, since this is an unattended system located outside the port area, it is essential to use applications and equipment that allow communication with the Port of Tarragona infrastructure and are highly reliable, thus avoiding the need for human intervention.
