The new door-to-door selective waste collection system will affect approximately 28,000 residents of the Sant Andreu de Palomar neighborhood (Barcelona) and will be carried out using trucks equipped with radio frequency antennas and garbage bags with RFID tags.

ALTECH has collaborated with ID-WASTE to provide the technological solution for tracking the door-to-door selective collection service in the Sant Andreu neighborhood of Barcelona. The experience of both companies in the world of mobility and the environment, respectively, has allowed them to design and develop a platform for easily and efficiently managing a door-to-door selective collection service, using a fleet of vehicles equipped with location and telemetry technology, and garbage bags equipped with RFID tags that will be distributed to residents.

The solution developed by ALTECH and ID-WASTE has previously been deployed in other municipalities and territories in Catalonia, but the implementation of the door-to-door system in the Sant Andreu neighborhood will make Barcelona the municipality in Catalonia with the most residents (more than 38,000) using the door-to-door selective collection service.

The management platform includes a wide range of scheduling and fractional splitting features, allowing municipalities to monitor selective and automated collections.

Those responsible for managing the service will find in this system typical features of a fleet management system, such as real-time visualization of vehicle positioning, journeys taken, route management, schedule adherence, etc.; but they will also have access to a series of advanced tools for the efficient management of cleaning and collection services.
