ALTECH has successfully completed an update and upgrade of the access control systems at the Levante area and the fish market within the Port of Tarragona. This renovation has significantly improved both vehicle and pedestrian entry and exit, adapting to new technologies and the port’s varying operational needs throughout the day.
During daytime hours, access is supervised by staff, while at night the system operates fully automatically using an unattended verification system, thereby ensuring security and efficiency 24/7.
ALTECH has supplied both the physical elements of the system (totems, cameras, traffic lights, barriers, etc.) and the HERMES software platform that operates them. ALTECH has developed a software platform designed to manage access intelligently and securely. Among the most notable features of HERMES are automatic identification of individuals (using RFID cards or biometric data) and vehicle recognition (through license plate reading). These are key tools for speeding up the passage of authorized vehicles and individuals while reinforcing security protocols. HERMES also includes other integrations and features that make it a reliable, flexible, and scalable solution for all types of sites and critical infrastructure access points.

‘With this project, we are reaffirming our commitment to technological innovation as it applies to security in critical infrastructure,’ said an ALTECH spokesperson. The successful completion of this project represents another step forward in consolidating ALTECH’s position as a provider of highly specialised technological solutions.
