The EMT (Empresa de Transportes de Madrid) has placed its trust in ALTECH for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the new Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for the city of Madrid’s municipal tow truck fleet.
This project applies smart technology to urban environments, directly contributing to more efficient, traceable, and sustainable mobility in one of Europe’s leading capitals.
The customised solution for EMT enables comprehensive management and optimisation of the municipal towing service. Based on the ARTEMIS technology platform designed and developed by ALTECH, the system integrates an advanced back office, a mobile app designed with a UX/UI focus, and a core set of central services that connect all points of the operational ecosystem.

With this implementation, EMT is provided with a tool of high strategic value that significantly improves service traceability, team coordination, and real-time decision-making. The solution has been designed to adapt to the dynamics of the urban environment, with a special focus on efficiency, responsiveness, and improving coexistence in public spaces.
One of the system’s most outstanding features is its intelligent route calculation, which enables cranes (tow trucks) to travel to both service calls and bases in an optimised manner, minimising downtime and improving operational planning. Likewise, the system enables direct, secure, and effective communication between the control centre and field personnel.

The project also includes the management of images and documentation associated with each service, facilitating comprehensive digital control of operations. The migration from the previous system was carried out in a phased manner, ensuring service continuity at all times, and was accompanied by a training and communication plan tailored to each profile involved in the process.
At ALTECH, we understand technology as an enabler of change, and this project is an example of how, through robust, tailored solutions, we can improve both the internal operations of public services and the quality of life in cities. We are convinced that this collaboration with EMT not only strengthens its management capabilities but also positions Madrid at the forefront of urban mobility.
