Altech collaborates with the AMTU to transform public transport in Catalonia

3 May 2021

The Association of Municipalities for Mobility and Urban Transport (AMTU) is implementing the flexible transport system developed by ALTECH in Alella, which has been in the testing phase since April 12.

This new on-demand transportation (TAD) system will optimize available transportation resources and offer users throughout Catalonia a more efficient transportation service tailored to the needs of each region.

Users can request a transportation service to a specific destination using a mobile app, a website, or by calling AMTU’s customer service. All these requests are received in real time by AMTU’s central services, and a planning algorithm generates optimized routes that are assigned to drivers of vehicles from different transport operators.

Drivers from different transport operators receive the routes on their mobile devices through a dedicated driver app, where they can view the route to each point along the established route and initiate navigation.

The main advantages of the F – Flexitransport platform are:

  • Greater use of available transportation resources.
  • Access to public transportation is guaranteed in smaller, less well-resourced, and poorly connected municipalities.
  • Improve real-time mobility planning by monitoring occupancy, optimizing routes, and eliminating unnecessary travel.
  • Reduction of CO2 emissions.
  • Improved user experience and citizen satisfaction, with a service better suited to their needs.

The AMTU’s F – Flexitransport platform aims to be a benchmark in optimizing urban and interurban transport. Its scalability and adaptability to the needs of each region place it at the forefront of existing solutions in the transport sector.
